Move Forward

Remember, women are more likely than men to be paralyzed by the prospect of the unknown. Your reaction to change may not be appropriate, it may be a result of your female body of training. It may be time to discard old reactions. Because of our tendency toward perfection, we may want to wait until there are no obstacles between ourselves and success – but we will be buried first. We must assess the risks involved, eliminate as many as possible, and plunge forward into the unknown. We must expect problems, frustrations, and obstacles. They are much easier to contend with when expected. The frustrations you experience may not be failures, but simply the price of success.

Some women give up as soon as someone stands in their way, especially if that person is an authority figure or someone who they care about deeply. Just because your mother doesn't want you to be a corporate tycoon is no reason why you should give up on a new career. Your mother is not trying to live on your salary.

OK, so you are learning to see yourself in a new light, someone with control over her own life and with tremendous possibilities. You are working on your environment, trying to associate with those who can build you up, instead of pulling you down. Now what? Take a look in the mirror.
